Add interval below - shorcuts included in standard

• Apr 30, 2020 - 19:42

Hi!

So, other than being new to these forums, I'm a teacher working at a high school (or the norwegian equivalent), with music studies. My ambition (one of them, anyway) is to release it from the sweaty hands of Avid and Sibelius... ;-)

As much as I dislike Sibelius, they have some great functions that I'd very much like to see in MuseScore, simply for pedagogic reasons. I'll probably ask for more of them as time goes along, but I thought I'd start with this one. :-)

So, as the subject header states, I'm looking for shortcuts to the different 'add interval below' functions, as these are very handy. Say you're trying to make a 17 year old (less than interested) over-worked and sleep deprived student harmonise a melody with simple triads or block chords with the melody on top - having the shortcuts for adding below is very handy indeed.

I know this has been disussed before, an I know there are workarounds - firstly you can add them yourself. This is less elegant, though, both as it didn't really work when I tried it (have added it in the bug repport section), and also because trying to make all of those 17 year old (less than interested) over-worked and sleep deprived students add custom shortcuts (and re-add them everytime their MacBook Air gives in) seems less elegant.

Also, adding intervals over the note, and them transposing them down quickly gets confusing for their poor, stressed out minds... ;)

So - I'd be very happy to see shortcuts added to the standard set of shortcuts! :-)

Regards
Marius Munthe-Kaas
