Do the mixer solo/mute buttons not work on audio export?

I'm interested in trying to export an orchestra score (14 staves) as separate instrument-section audio tracks for later remix to a 5.1 surround-sound format. I thought of doing a bunch of stereo .wav files of two staves at a time (e.g., flutes panned to L, oboes to R) by using the "solo" buttons on the mixer to isolate the two staves, but the solo/mute control doesn't seem to work on audio export (I did a quick try in MS 3.4.2). Is there another way, short of copying two staves at a time to a new score?

Thanks - that works, although it seems to export ALL the parts, not selectively. It would be interesting to think of how a 5.1 audio export module would work, with different panning maps to represent e.g. what the oboe player hears (strings in front, brass in back) or what the conductor hears (1st violins hard at left, basses hard right, etc.). I wonder if it could be done as a plugin.

Read that again, particularly Step 3 of "Create specific parts". You can have more than 1 instrument in a part.

Regarding panning and suchlike, perhaps someone more expert in the art of MuseScore playback/export can help. I like to have flesh and blood musicians play my stuff and only use playback for "proof listening".

Audio exports from MuseScore are limited to plain old L+R-stereo. For anything more advanced, export the parts (as advised) to their own mono tracks, then build your soundscape in a program suited for it (be it 2.1 or 3.2 or 5.1 or 7.1).
