Midi input problem in MuseScore 3.5.0

I just updated from MuseScore 3.4 to 3.5.0. My system is MacOS 10.14.6.

With my Korg midi keyboard already attached, I start MuseScore. As usual, a blank score, having one staff in treble clef, comes up. In addition, the smaller Start Center window comes up on top of it.

If I close the Start Center window and use the blank score, I get sound when I play the keyboard. I see that the midi input symbol is also on in the toolbar. However, if I toggle this symbol off and then back on again, the sound no longer works.

If I try to create a new score instead using the Start Center, the sound does not work to begin with, although the midi input symbol is on in the toobar.

If I then close MuseScore and reopen it, the above situation repeats.

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?
