Triplet problem
I cant write a triplet with the desired note duration. MuseScore changes it always to eight-note, leaving a quarter rest in place. The triplet should be three quarter-notes and then there will be no rest!
I tried many methods with some giving total mess on the score.
How can I overcome this problem? Can I stop MuseScore from trying to guess (wrong) the needed rests?

Start by selecting a duration that is equal to to the total duration of the triplet then use the triplet tool to divide it into three equal parts. For a triplet consisting of three quarter notes start by selecting a duration of a half note and then press CTRL+3. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/tuplets
See also this page in the Version 3 handbook that provides some nice examples. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/tuplets#Triplet_examples
