Can't get inverted mode (black background, white notes) to work properly on 3.5.0 (Ubuntu)

I quote from the top of that linked article:
"This tutorial is for an outdated version of our software."
The setting you've manually been changing doesn't exist anymore.

  1. Change the Theme to Dark
  2. Change your Canvas and/or Paper color
  3. Set "ui/score/defaultColor" to your desired color. Use the "Advanced" tab in preferences rather than manually editing the settings file.
  4. Restart MuseScore
