No MIDI devices shown when other application uses one of them
Hi everyone,
I'd like to use MIDI note input. When just Hauptwerk is running, then all MIDI devices show up in the preferences. However, when Hauptwerk Virtual Organ is also running and using some of these devices, then the MIDI device selection box in Musescore is completely empty.
This is not a problem with Hauptwerk. The same problem occurs when another program, like MIDI-OX, has a port open.
Is this a bug?

One midi socket, real or virtual, can only take one midi plug. I use HW, too. Have you been here?

Thanks for the link! Yes, I've been there. And on my other computer, the setup worked perfectly.
But on this particular computer here, Musescore doesn't show ANY MIDI devices when another application uses only one of them. I'm aware that a MIDI device cannot be used by two applications simultaneously. But on my computer, when another application has my MIDI controller opened, then Musescore fails to detect ANY MIDI device at all.
To sum it up: When any other MIDI-using application on my computer uses the MIDI controller, then Musescore MIDI fails completely. This is on Windows 10 x64 Version 10.0.19041.746. My MIDI Controller is an Alesis V61. I use the latest version of Musescore (3.6.0.487915773 rev 1977cb3)
The bug only occurs sometimes, and it seems I can work around by changing the order in which I start my applications. When I start Musescore first, things tend to work fine.
So I guess I'm fine, but if anyone else gets similar bugs, they can chime in here.
