High coreaudio CPU usage on Mac BigSur

• Feb 27, 2021 - 17:24

When I start up MuseScore, even with a blank page and no sound playing, coreaudio starts running at 17 to 19% CPU and the fan starts running.

I've been using MuseScore for a few years but only recently have started seeing this problem -- previously reported, in 2019, with no solution at the time -- https://musescore.org/en/node/289036.

Seems new to me -- did it start after a Mac update or a MuseScore update? I don't know.

I am running MuseScore 3.6 on a MacBook Air running Big Sur 11.2.1.

From my MuseScore->About dialog box:
macOS 10.16, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.0.487915347, revision: 1977cb3

Anyone else seeing this problem?
