Adding bars in middle of piece

Hello.
I forgot to write a few bars and kept writing quite a lot, only now I see that I missed these bars, so I want to add a few bars in the middle of the piece. When I press ctrl b it adds bars at the end no matter where in the piece I click, so I was hoping for help.
