Measure takes up whole page width and cannot stretch/compress

• Jun 21, 2021 - 15:31

In the attached partially completed score measures 21 and 22 can't be compressed onto one line. I know this should be possible because measure 19 & 20 (on the line above) easily achieve this. Indeed measure #20 is exactly the same pattern as 21 & 22 and fits perfectly (2 measures per line). I've checked previous posts on this issue and can verify that all Format>Style>Bar settings are set to default. I've also tried separating the Ottava Alta which spans the two affected measures but still, to no avail. Musecore version is 3.5.2.311459983, Windows 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also measure 21 has many accidentals which contribute to its extra width. I shrank the scaling to 1.4 mm before I could get measure 21 and 22 on one system and that size could be quite a challenge to read in anything but good light.

I think you just have to accept that measure 21 is a big one that will not fit on a single system together with measure 22.

Many Thanks,

Upgraded, re-scaled Staff spacing down by 1 click. Only measure 21 now takes up full page width. If I click the staff spacing down any further it's virtually illegible on an A4 printout. I have an Urtext edition of this piece and the page width is about 30mm wider than A4 but has measure 21 and half of measure 22 on one line which doesn't look nice at all.
