Can I remove the staccato sound effect in playback?

Part of my piece uses portato articulation, but when I play the piece back it just sounds like plain staccato (this happens both when I notate it using staccato markings under slurs or Musescore's tenuto-staccato articulation marking). It's not a huge deal, but it's bothersome, and I'm wondering if there's a way to turn the staccato articulation off during playback and have it just sound normal. I've looked around in the staff text and mixer menus and haven't found anything.
