Missing chords.xml file in styles directory
I'm having problems recovering from a situation where the sequencer play feature would hang the program.
An attempt to uninstall and reinstall MuseScore was unsuccessful, so I went back and restored my system to a prior point.
I can now run MuseScore, however, I receive an error message upon opening a file: "Cannot open chord description: C:/Program Files/MuseScore 0.9/styles/chords.xml". The file will then open, but without chord notations.
After editing a lead sheet file to enter chord notations, saving the file, and then re-opening, the error message reappears, but the file opens with the chord notations previously entered.
I'm using version 0.9.5 on Windows XP.
I'm considering trying to repeat the uninstall/reinstall procedure, thinking that perhaps I did it wrong the first time.
I will be grateful for any help you can offer. Thaks!

You can keep on hacking by downloading chords.xml at http://mscore.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mscore/trunk/mscore/share/styl…

Thank you - I was able to download the chords.xml file and copy it to the styles directory. However, when I edited another lead sheet file, the chord assignments did not seem to be saved upon saving, closing, and re-opening the file. In addition, when creating a new file and selecting the template option, no templates are listed in the "Create new Score" window.
Are there other support files that also need to be put back in any other subdirectories?

Apparently, yes... Try to reinstall MuseScore from scratch or you will need to find every missing files.
