Arpeggios on Tied Notes

I'm writing a piece which requires numerous arpeggios on a guitar (this as a substitute for strumming). Adding several at once is easy enough, but the program is also adding them on notes that are tied in from a previous measure, thereby creating arpeggios where they're unwanted. Is there a way to filter out such notes from a selection?
