Muse Hub on Manjaro linux and muse-hub (binary) output to console

• Dec 14, 2022 - 23:18

Background:
I've downloaded the Debian install file and converted it to an Arch User Repository package using debtap, which occurred with no errors. I then proceeded to install the AUR package on two different Manjaro GNOME machines, running the same version of Manjaro but with minor differences in installed packages and configuration.

Result:
muse-hub runs fine on one Manjaro machine and I was able to install all of the Muse Sounds. On the second machine, however, mus-hub fails silently, no output to the console whatsoever, also nothing in the journal about muse-hub, either, as well as nothing in the muse-hub log. On the machine on which muse-hub runs, there is a lot of output to the console, beginning with verifying that the user's language is English.

Question:
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get some kind of information out of muse-hub on the non-working machine to troubleshoot it? With nothing in the application or system logs, or to the console, it's kind of impossible to know where to start.

Thank you!

Regards,
TL

I had some directories missing, needing chmod 755:

/srv/muse-hub/downloads
/srv/muse-hub/logs
/var/lib/MuseSampler

despite muse hub (from AUR) working for me in Manjaro, Muse Score (both pacman install and AppImage) seems to not detect that I have done anything, still only Basic sounds available…. Got it working fine in a VM in Linux Mint but cannot get sound working for the VM yet..

You need
/usr/lib/libMuseSamplerCoreLib.so
If you have the muse-hub.service running, you probably can find it in
/srv/muse-hub/downloads/Installers/something/musesampler-linux-xxxx.tar.zip
You also need
/var/lib/MuseSampler/.config
hidden file with location of Instruments, default
/srv/muse-hub/downloads/Instruments/
