unwanted arpeggio like sound in version 4.0

I made a sheet with chord symbols plus broken chords, for major, minor and dominant chords. However, when I play the sheet, the sound has an irregular arpeggio reverberation. If I open the mixer it plays correctly, but as soon as I close the mixer, the unwanted sound quality returns. Is this a bug or can you turn this off somewhere?

same issue as reported over the past months by others under "MuseScore 4 playback keeps crackling and stuttering even with just rests"
