Paste Lyrics from Text File

• Dec 22, 2022 - 21:51

I'm making a gradual transition from MuseScore 3.6 to 4.0.

In 3.6, I am able to add lyric text to each note of an existing melody line by creating a plain file containing the lyric. Using a simple text editor (outside of MuseScore), I create the text file and include a hyphen between each syllable. Then I copy all (or part) of the text file to my clipboard (using Ctrl+C).

Next, in MuseScore 3.6, I select a melody note and type Ctrl+L to start the lyric function. I can repeatedly press Ctrl+V to paste the entire lyric into the song, one syllable at a time. This is much faster than typing the lyrics one syllable at a time.

This feature may have originally been enabled by a plug-in in 3.6... It's been a while since I started using it and I can't remember what I did (if anything) to enable this useful feature. (I looked at installed plugins in 3.6 and I don't see anything that seems to be related to the feature.)

In MuseScore 4.0, the feature simply does not work. If I press Ctrl+V, the first syllable of the lyric text is pasted as expected. However, each subsequent Ctril+V pastes the same syllable over and over instead of advancing to the next syllable.

If this is not already a feature in 4.0, I'd like to request it. If it requires a plug-in, could someone please refresh my memory as to where to find the plug-in and how to implement it in 4.0? Thanks in advance!
