Midi note input cursor not advancing n

I have version 4.0. Midi Issue.mscz 0 on a surface tab pro 7 running windows 11 connected via a roland un one midi interface to a roland 5500 piano. Musescore will accept the notes input from the piano but does not progress the cursor. if you progress manually using the mouse the visual notes replicate the original jumbled set of notes plus the new note. Playback is confused.
