MuseScore 4 — Playback head gets successively ahead of playback—under certain circumstances—when I stop and restart playback

In MuseScore 4.0 I encounter no issues with the playback head when I play the score with a single note selected.

However, on stop/start (via the spacebar key or the toolbar transport control) I see the playback head get progressively out of sync with playback which always restarts at the selection:
  
• when I start-stop-restart play while a range selection exists
• I have two note selected horizontally (melodically)
• when I have two or more notes selected vertically (harmonically) or a vertical range selection

In the latter case the tracks also become out of sync with each other!

System: Macbook Air M2, 24MB, MacOS Ventura 13.0

Looking at this issue again (from the perspective of MuseScore 3) we could say that on stop/start MuseScore 4's playback head moves as it does in MuzeScore 3, but the playback rewinds to the start rather than continuing from the stop point.
