Musescore 4 and vst plugins?

Hi, for some reason I can't get musescore 4 to recognize vst's on my pc. I have never used previous versions. I have tried copying them to the default sounds directory and to the homepath:plugins directory but they aren't recognized? a couple of the vst's are showing up but the majority are not?
