Extract Part: Do not show unnecessary tempo changes (in non-playing parts)

I have a large score containing hundreds of tempo changes (because it's film music).

The flute plays only 10% of the time. When I extract parts for the flute, there are pages and pages with empty measures, containing just tempo changes.

Is there a way to
a) extract a part without including any of the tempo markings
b) or, even better: extract a part and include the tempo markings only in the sections where the extracted instrument is actually playing?
