No sound or playback on Artix Linux

• Jan 18, 2023 - 08:47

Whilst on Artix I can't hear any sound such as when clicking on notes, and when I try to start playback it just halts at the start (see attached picture, the blue playback bar stays in the same place forever.) When looking in I/O settings I have no option for any audio device apart from the system default.
I'm on a Thinkpad E15 Gen 3, using Musescore 4.0.1, Linux kernel version 6.1.3-zen1-1-zen, and my operating system is Artix Linux x86_64.

I'm not immediately familiar with the Artix distro... What is it derived from? I imagine your audio system works fine otherwise. Can you see what your audio is configured with? ALSA, Pulseaudio, other? Perchance, do you also have MS3 installed, and if so, does that produce sound? I'm getting decent performance on a modest system with Ubuntu 20.04 and using this command-line command 'inxi', I get:

gandsnut@tinyhp:~$ inxi -A
Audio: Device-1: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Kabini HDMI/DP Audio driver: snd_hda_intel
Device-2: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] FCH Azalia driver: snd_hda_intel
Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.4.0-137-generic

Artix is a fork of Arch Linux. I had musescore 3 working a few months ago, but now after a downgrade MS3 doesn't produce sound (this may be due to me not having downgraded the relevant dependencies rather than being the same problem, I'm not sure yet and will try downgrading the dependencies later.) When running inxi I get:

inxi -A
Audio:
Device-1: AMD Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio driver: snd_hda_intel
Device-2: AMD ACP/ACP3X/ACP6x Audio Coprocessor driver: N/A
Device-3: AMD Family 17h/19h HD Audio driver: snd_hda_intel
Sound API: ALSA v: k6.1.3-zen1-1-zen running: yes
Sound Server-1: PulseAudio v: 16.1 running: yes
