How do I play 2 instruments on the same stave ?

Hello,

Please excuse me If the question already exists here, but I didn't find it. I don't speak English fluently which didn't help my research.

I would like to have different instrument playing the exact same part, for example cellos and double bass. Is there a way do to that or shall I just copy and past as much as needed ?

Two instruments on a single stave is usually reserved for instruments of the same type and the same pitch - for example Horn 1 and Horn 2.

You cannot assign different playback instruments to Voice 1 and Voice 2 (not even in the Mixer in MS 4.0).

Cellos and contrabasses are often written on the same stave in orchestral scores and parts with the contrabasses sounding an octave lower than written. The only way I have found to get the playback correct is to use a hidden stave for the basses and to set their notes to not play in the combined cello/contrabass part where they are doing anything other than doubling the cello at a sounding octave lower. It is a PITA.
