Loop Playback toggle vs. Accessibility?

• Jan 26, 2023 - 18:01

In MuseScore 4.01, after enabling Loop Playback, my inclination is to immediately press the spacebar to hear the loop. But, perhaps due to accessibility priorities, the spacebar keystroke toggles Loop Playback off, rather than starting and stopping the score playback. If one doesn't notice the Loop icon highlight switching states it seems that MuseScore has become non responsive.

I'm all for accessibility, but I'd also like to see accessibility better harmonized with the average user's likely intent. If that's too daunting or no fully logical reconciliation is possible, then perhaps a preference/properties option to turn off accessibility altogether.

I definitely want to see accessibility features for those that need them, but I don't want it getting me my way. And I don't want to see my students as living proof that accessibility can cause predictable confusion. Currently they are.

Interestingly, my system Properties has Accessibility>Keystroke all toggled off, including Spacebar for activate. (See attachment.) So perhaps this behavior is baked into MuseScore?
