• Feb 13, 2023 - 21:48

hello,
I have been using musescore for a couple of weeks and I'm struggling with some notes entering. here are two pictures of the original sheet and I don't know how to enter them.
in number one, I don't know how to enter this rest note. also, I don't know how to enter it with a note.
in the second picture, I don't know how to enter two different beats of note as a chord

thankyou

You need to use two different voices in both cases. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices for more details on what that means and how to achieve it.

But the rest in 1.png may not be needed. It would only make sense if there is a second voice in the preceding and following measures. In that case it would indicate that although there is only one "active" voice the theme in the second voice continues. More context is needed than is provided in your picture.

You can accomplish that using "voices." In the second example, the high long note could be set to voice 1, and the quarters and the following rest could be written in voice 2. It's a little like writing two different instruments on the same staff rather than on two separate ones, but you need to keep close tabs on which voice you're assigning notes to.

I've attached a screenshot of where the relevant control is on the main toolbar.
