Midi unable to connect - MuseScore 4

I have an AKAI MPK mini 3 that I have used successfully with MuseScore 3, but I cannot seem to make it work with MuseScore 4. I have followed all of the generally posted advice about making sure the midi is plugged in and functioning before loading MuseScore, I have checked preferences and under I/O it detects it but does not allow me to select it. Advice would be greatly appreciated, as I've been trying to use the two together to create music for my school!
