Pedal doesn't work after a change in tempo

I sometimes write some pieces for piano with pedal markings. It goes as planned and sounds as expected; but when I insert a new tempo after a rit. or an accel., the pedal playback seems not to work as it should. Is this a bug? Any suggestions for how to fix this issue?
