Terrible Quality Playback

I use an HP laptop, running the latest version of Musescore 4. It doesn't matter what score I'm playing, or what audio output is being used, and it isn't because of my computer's performance. When I press play on a score, the playback is extremely choppy and broken, nearly to the point of being unrecognizable.

Edit: I realize now that I have 3,7 GB of usable memory and 2 CPU cores. It's recommended that MU4 runs with 16 GB of memory and 4 CPU cores.

Does anyone have any advice as to how I can smoothen playback?
