Some suggested improvements to how gradual tempo changes are handled

• May 9, 2023 - 22:24

When working with gradual tempo changes like accelerando and ritardando, their ending tempo can only be customized using percentages of the starting tempo (screenshot below). This means that anytime I use them, even though I know the BPM I want them to end at, I have to calculate what percentage the ending tempo is of the starting tempo, and then use that percentage for the tempo change amount.

These gradual tempo changes would be a lot more flexible if their ending metronome marking could also be changed explicitly to a given tempo.

Meanwhile you can use the tempo slider from the undocked play panel for a makeshift conversion calculator. As the movable slider changes the percent, the bpm number changes accordingly.

For example - here the score tempo is 90 bpm:

(Set back to 100% when done using as a calculator.)
