triplet with quarter notes
I'm new to MuseScore and have version 4. I want to show a triplet feel over the first two beats of the measure. Like the word "Pennies from" in the chorus from the song Pennies From Heaven.
It should appear like 3 quarter notes with a bracket and "3" across the top. Whenever I try to do this at least one of the notes turns into an eighth note or rest.

Start with a half note rest. Select it and press CTRL+3. This will create a triplet of three quarter note rests. Just replace those rests with the notes you want.
For any triplet you start by selecting a rest (or note) with the duration equal to the total duration if the triplet.
