Using Transpose Tool on Score does not change Part key signatures

• Jul 2, 2023 - 17:04

When using the Transpose Tool on a Score, the key signature of the score will change correct but the parts' key signatures do not change. The notes of the parts are transposed but the key signature remains in the original signature. The only solution is to manually select and change the key signature for each part.

To recreate:
1. Create a score
2. Create the parts for the score
3. Select All in the score
4. Use the Transpose tool to change the key signature for all parts
5. Make sure the "Transpose key signatures" is ticked/checked
6. Score will have notes and key signatures in all parts transposed
7. Parts only have the notes transposed

I did a test in MuS 3.6.2 and did all except of point 3 - I selected nothing. (Either all or nothing is necessary).
The score has flute (C), clarinet (B♭) , alto sax (E♭), horn (F), trumpet (B♭) and tuba (C).

Interesting:
Mostly it works for all parts but one time the horn part didn't get the correct key signature. In a score with Fmaj the horn stave is in Cmaj. Maybe this was the reason for the buggy behaviour. I transposed from Fmaj to Cmaj.
I couldn't test all combinations but it happens only for the horn in a Fmaj score.

If you use MuS 4, this already old bug has worsened ...
