Templates for 13-course lute tab?

Ok... this is extraordinarily annoying. The only option in the stock lute templates that gives you French tab defaults to six courses, so I have to manually add any additional courses every single time. I can get 13-courses by selecting Tenor Lute and using the drop-down to choose 13 courses but that yields... you guessed it... a treble clef staff. Why? Nobody in the history of anything ever wrote 13-course lute music in mensural notation.

So: I chose the Lute (tablature) template to get French tab as the gods intended, and manually added the necessary strings. I tried to save this as a template, but when I opened the template it just gave me six-course tab in renaissance tuning, and I had to repeat the entire tedious procedure anyway.

What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to set up an instrument with the proper tuning and number of courses and save the template, or do I have to manually add strings for every single score?

Musescore 4? You could try saving a simple score with one bar of the format you want, and use that file as a "template" instead of saving in the template directory.
