Program hangs during fingering entry

When I am entering piano fingering with the Add/Text/Fingering with a number on the keyboard and I hit enter instead of the space bar, the program hangs with no visible way to recover. I exit, restart, and select restore previous version which works but it is a hassle. Any way to intercept this behavior?
