Configure-ing default voice beams direction

• Sep 16, 2023 - 09:49

Hi,
Is there a way to configure the default beams direction for each voices ?
I looked in MU3.6 and MU4.1 stylesheet options and couldn't find it.

It could be useful when dealing with 3 voices or 4.
The beams could be configured as ↑↑↓ or ↑↓↓, or any other configuration.
Now the the default beams directions are ↑↓↑↓

PS: I like using voices even when stacking notes on a same voice would suffice because (at least in MU3.6, but no longer in MU4) one can mute voices:

MuseScore already defaults the stem/beam direction:
Voices 1 + 3 = stem up
Voices 2 + 4 = stem down

So surely you can achieve ↑↑↓ or ↑↓↓ simply by using Voices 1, 3, 2 or Voices 1,2,4 ?

That's what I like to configure.

In my 3 voices example, you could do so. But it ain't really logical in a musical point of view.
I find it more consistent to have voices used in their logical order: 1 the highest melody, the highest below 1 comes in voice 2, then 3 until 4 the lowest melody.

And this approach (just by switching what's on voice 1, 2, 3, 4) doesn't allow for organising the voices (in a 4 voices situation) such as ↑↓↓↓ or ↑↑↑↓

If it isn't possible to configure this defaults, I'll fill in a new Feature Request.
