Custom Pallet for Guitar tablature

I would like to create a pallet option that inserts the chromatic notes as letters (a,b,c,d,e,f,g with the possibility of sharps and flats) in the same manner as adding the fingering numbers next to each fret number. As an alternative to that, simply replacing the fret number with a note letter as above. Any ideas on doing this?
