MuseScore Composing App

• Oct 7, 2023 - 22:54

Have y’all tried to make an app for composing instead of just looking at music. I would love an app like Staff pad, which is too expensive for me at the moment. I want to be somewhere else than be sitting at my desk. Hope the MuseScore team would see if they can do a composing app on other devices other than laptops and desktops.

Thank you!

This has been requested and discussed many times in recent years but seems to be the domain of musescore.com rather than .org because the mobile apps are maintained by the commercial arm of Musescore. There don't appear to be any plans for a composition app at present.

It might be worth trying out TEFpad, (for Android or iOS). It has its origins in guitar TAB but supports notation editing too and is very fully featured. (I think that TAB or notation can be switched off). It looks like it has MIDI export so you could transfer scores to Musescore. I only have the desktop version but can say that it is very good.
