More than half my musescore files have gone missing
I opened up musescore 4 yesterday, and what was originally about 5 compositions/arrangements I've been working on in my file turned into 2. Can someone tell me how my files just disappeared from my computer? I have pdfs of them that I exported, but In order to continue working on them, I'll have to rewrite everything on musescore from scratch, which is a big doozy.

MuseScore did not make your files disappear. It does not contain any code that would enable it to do this. I think every operating system has a method of finding files so Google your situation for advice on how to do this.
Search for MuseScore4/Scores in your Documents folder using your File Explorer.
Or should the files have been saved on musescore.com? Then click on your login name at the top right of this web page and select "My scores".
