Note values and note flag directions in part do not match those in full score
The score contains eight notes for both voices with note flags in opposite directions. The part shows sixteenth notes with both flags pointed down. See attach image.

Looks like the eighth notes are overlapping, making it look like 16ths although the actual score - the MSCZ file - would give more information than a PDF.

I am sure, they do!
This may happen if there are two voices and s.o. changes the stem direction of e.g. voice 2.
If it is MuS4 maybe resetting the part or using Ctrl+R may help.
