octaves

How can I quickly write an octave for example C and an octave above C. If I type with the computer keyboard, the sound will go an octave lower or higher as I need. How can I get the sound to be where I need it?

You could write AA [Ctrl][UpArrow] C [Ctrl][DownArrow] C [Ctrl][UpArrow] D [Ctrl][DownArrow] etc. but for this piece I'd just write it as AA CC DD CC etc. (no octave changes) and then go back and make every second note up an octave with [Ctrl][UpArrow].
