Crackly and high-pitched audio (MU4)

I have downloaded MU4 and its accompanying audio packs today. I booted it up, and I was annoyed that the first thing I heard was an off-pitch crackly note that instantly gave me a headache. I have been looking through forums for almost 3 hours and yet still can't fix the problem. I have changed the system audio sampling bit rate (48khz). the MU4 buffer size (4096) and have re-installed and un-installed MU4 and its audio packs.
I use SteelSeries GG for my PC audio software, as my headset is an Arctis 7. This software is also used for my monitor speakers. I have switched between the headset and monitor audio and it does not change. Would there be an incompatibility?

Is there anything that could help fix it? I desperately want to use this software as I am too poor to afford Sibelius and I want to experiment with more composition over the summer school holidays (NZ) so I can be prepared for assessments next year, and for a bit of fun.
