Voltas are not being handled properly during playback

• Dec 11, 2023 - 21:48

Regarding voltas, am I doing something wrong here? When I have MuseScore play through the piece, it plays through twice, but the second time it plays through, does not repeat for third verse, and cursor moves through the last measure, without playing a note.

I don't know that's clear or not, so I've included the .mscz file as well as the screenshot.

I'm def' not adept with MuseScore nor engraving, so I'm likely doing many things wrong, but the volta thing is what I'm trying to solve at the moment.

Right-click on the measure before the End Repeat (under the 1,2 Volta) and look at Measure/Bar properties. "Play count" is set to 2 so it only plays twice. To make it play three times, set Play count to 3.

It is a little misleading that you have to assign this property (play count = 3) to the measure with the end repeat bar line (volta 1,2), even if this measure is only to be played twice. It means that the repeat block is played three times (play the measure with start repeat bar line three times) and then playing twice the first volta and once the second.
Have you even tried what @underquark told you?
It certainly works in MuS 3.x and I am sure, it does in MuS 4 too ...

Yes, I have tried that and now on the repeat it skips the first beat of measure one on the first repeat and then plays nothing on third repeat, although the cursor keeps scrolling as if it's playing, and on volta 3, it skips the first beat of the final measure.
