Create keybindable action for "break multibar rest"
Big band parts: there's going to be both moments where we need multibar rests (arranged moments where an instrument must be quiet), and moments where we need the instrumentalist to have access to the chord structure while having no specific note on the staff (solos improvising on chord structure).
As a result, any time a chord lasts two measure, we have to break the multibar rest - or copypaste the previous chord then turn it invisible. The latter is currently easier than going through the menu for each measure, but creates needless clutter of items in the program. Having a shortcut (even not assigned by default) for the former would be preferrable.

Additionally, I tried to set Alt+B up as the shortcut to open Bar Properties, but then I get a "select a note and retry" error if I use it with a bar selected, and if I try to "obey the error" and press alt+b on a single note, it inputs a new note after it connected by a sort of wide V symbol I've never seen.

You can change the minimum number of empty bars needed to trigger multi-bar rests, but I suspect that wouldn’t help your particular case.

It actually does. Yeah, there's modal jazz tunes that have one single chord for 8 measures, but it0s not what I'm doing right now.
