Repeats and jumps

• Jan 25, 2024 - 12:54

I have a song with an A A part and a B B part which I want to play through twice.
I have used the start and repeat barlines to generate this sequence, and it works perfectly for the first time through.
I have then used the Segno and D.S. to repeat the secquence for the for the second time through. However on the second time through the secquence, the repeat barlines do not operate.
How can this be fixed?

After D.S. or D.C., even with 'al Coda' or 'al Fine', the repeats are normally not played.
This is how a musician would interpret it, unless (s)he reads "D.S. con rep." or "D.C. con rep.". [(ital.) abbreviation for con repititione = with repetition]
I therefore recommend editing the text D.S. and adding 'con rep.' when the checkbox "Play repeats" is activated. The text change has no effect on the playback of MuseScore, but it is important for the sheet music.

Thanks. This explains why it's doing what it's doing. I was just trying to compress the score and thought I was doing something wrong.
I normally export the parts into a DAW as a guide tracks for the band to learn, practice and record against.
So it has to be the full arrangement. I'll just copy and paste it into the score to get the repeat.
