can't get musescore to accept my chosen key signature for a transposing instrument
It keeps on translating to concert pitch, which I don't want because I am trying to enter a part that is written specifically for the transposing instrument (bari sax); selecting or deselecting "concert pitch" does not help. In previous versions I have not had this problem.

Have you actually set up the score with bari sax as the instrument?
Are you selecting the correct concert pitch key signature?
If you are already doing both of those, please attach an example of the score (the .mscz file) that is causing problems so that someone can investigate further.
