pollution de partition

• Feb 10, 2024 - 22:19

Bonjour,

Score corruption
Hello,
I have a score where one of the systems is polluted by silences in the background: in addition to the notes there are silences in 1/2 tone which appear or not depending on the action on the "invisible" control.
I only have this phenomenon on one of the desks - the Basses - and it prevents me from duplicating the lyrics!
How can I remove these "alterations" (e.g. bars 7,12,13,14,15,... on the attached file)?
Thanks in advance

Select the measure.
Click on "Voice 1".
Now delete the rests.

Sélectionnez la mesure.
Cliquez sur "Voix 1".
Supprimez maintenant les silences

Voices in MuseScore are different notes within a measure that are written simultaneously or offset with other notes. During note entry or when selected, each voice has its own color. There are four voices available. See my picture.
The different voices are necessary when you need to have notes of different lengths within a measure, as shown in the second measure. (Difficult to explain, but m. 2 shows it ... :-))
This is also used, for example, to write the notes of trumpet 1 and trumpet 2 on a single staff.
If only chords with the same duration are to be written in the same beat, there can be more than four, as shown in measure 3. Then even all in a single voice.
Do not confuse the term "voice" in MuseScore with the human voice, which is actually an instrument, also known as 'vocals'. This "instrument" can also have several "voices", as is often used in SATB scores for choirs.

[The chords don't make sense - just for demonstration]

To explain the problem another way, your notes for any vocal line should consistently use Voice 1. But in the Bass staff, your score has a mixture of notes in Voice 1 and Voice 2. And you can only enter lyrics continuously in a single Voice: either Voice 1 or Voice 2. You cannot use a mixture of Voices.
