Musescore 4.2 -- Split Measure -- why does it mess up neighboring measures

• Feb 12, 2024 - 18:30

I'm copying music, I think it's Gregorian.
Looking at the attached image, if I split a measure at the red arrow (selecting the note, holding CTRL and clicking on a barline from the palette), it removes the system break at the end of the system, it also modifies the beams on the previous measure. Is this a bug or is there a way to avoid this?

Using Windows 10, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.2.1-240230937, revision: d757433

I recently had a similar issue. I was trying to merge two bars toward the beginning of a section, and it shifted all of the hairpin by one bar—I forget if it was to the right or the left. I was able to work around it, but it's definitely not what should have happened.

I'm running MuseScore 4.2.1 on Mac Sonoma 14.3.
