Expression text over barline

• Apr 16, 2024 - 22:38

Hello! When an expression text crosses a barline, how does one "whiteout" the barline behind the text? Online tutorials have not been helpful. Thanks in advance for your advice. - David H.

You can propbably get close to what you want by adding a frame to the expression text and play with properties. So
1. Select the text
2. In properties click äshow more"
3. Add a rectangular frame
4. Click teh border colour and change it - if you don't want a border, which I guess is the case, change teh thickness to 0
5. click on "Fill colour" - you may not see the place to click depending on your theme. Its the place just to the right of border colour
6. Change colour to the colour of your page, probably white

An alternative method is not to change the border thickness to 0, but instead to change the border colour to white (or to the background colour chosen for the Fill colour).

I also find it useful to increase the Padding value, which provides more white space around the text.
