It's not possible to "delete" the Properties tab. You can, however, hide or display it. I assume you found the place to display/hide it on the View menu. Or you found the keyboard shortcut (F9) to toggle its display/hide status.
It's always nice to describe how you resolved your own question (in addition to other peoples'). That way, hopefully, the next person with the same problem will be able to find your solution to fix their problem. :-)
