Detached or Free Floating bar/staff for use as example
I would like to create a detached or "free floating" bar of staff below the full staff to use as and example of how to perform a figure in the full piece. In the file submitted, the detached bar below the staff is demonstrating how to perform a trill from the previous page (of Carnival of Venice).
I have explored several options such as adding a instrument staff and hiding empty bars but this ties the length of the measure to the one above. Another thing I tried was adding measures after the end of the piece but it is (or seems) impossible to hide measures in a single staff.
I'm looking for a solution that does not involve going outside of Musescore. (Which I know is possible by making PDF, extracting page as JPEG, then cutting and pasting before creating new PDF page.)

You can do it with an image capture within MSS.

If you used a smaller staff size in your scratch score, that might do what you want.

This is a really helpful tip. Thank you!
I never even noticed that camera icon before. The procedure is actually easier than the directions make it.
Look at the sections on "Cutaway staves" and "Ossia" in the Handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/showing-staves-only-where-needed#Cu…. This looks precisely like what you want!

I really appreciate that you took the time to give a suggestion. Thanks.
I've used the "ossia" staves in other files. That doesn't work for this application because the remaining measure length (after hiding empty measures) is tied to the measure it mirrors and barlines are difficult to deal with.
