Changing Font of Text Line (with bracket)

I'm trying to change the font of the text line with the bracket from the default font Edwin to a different font. Unfortunately, it doesn't change to whatever font I set it to. Screenshots show default appearance (Edwin) and the font I'm attempting to change it to (FreeSerif).
