Muse Sounds and NotePerformer support
Hello,
I thought I'd come here to discuss one of my biggest pains with using MuseScore, and something I hope is addressed in the future.
Muse Sounds is great. For a completely free product, it has a lot of good things to say about it. However, I rarely ever use it myself, for some key reasons. First, it's extremely unreliable. You rarely get consistent articulation between notes and dynamics vary wildly for no reason (and sound extremely unnatural). Second, overall, they just sound a bit sloppy and unnatural. For context, I'm a string player, and the strings sound just terrible, compared to NotePerformer (which are still not perfect but leagues better than MS). Other instruments are fine, but I still prefer NotePerformer for the same reasons listed above. And for those reasons, I constantly find myself exporting to MusicXML, importing into Sibelius and using NotePerformer to achieve an actual usable sound. I have tried one of the new third party Muse Sounds from the Hub, but the exact same issues are present here as well. If there was native support for NotePerformer in MuseScore, I would have no need to keep switching between programs, and it sucks that that effort was abandoned in favour of Muse Sounds, which, while impressive, are no where near good enough for professional work. The hassle of switching between programs back and forth constantly just makes me more and more likely to abandon MuseScore at some point in the future, but I really wish I didn't have to, due to MuseScore having by far the best usability in other aspects in my opinion.
