How do you stop slurs from moving around randomly? Disabling auto-place isn't what I'm looking for as it makes you have to redo everything

I didn't see any slurs moving at all in your video. Indeed, I didn't see ANYTHING moving at all.
Disabling Auto-place does not mean you have to redo anything. It means that the specific item that has Auto-place disabled will not move automatically any more. This occasionally means that thing is in the wrong place as something else Auto-places over it.

yes, it does. if you watch the video you can see that all I'm doing is selecting and unselecting text at the very top of the score. that alone makes all the slurs on all pages re adjust (which has already happened once prior to recording the video, so only the one freshly placed slur moves). disabling auto place for anything has the exact same effect
